I’m not to happy with boot because around the ankle feels very stiff and cuts into ankles. I’m awaiting insoles in hope to raise the foot height to overcome this. Otherwise a nice boot
Seller's reply
Hi there, Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We’re glad to hear you find the T8 LE 2.0 to be a nice boot overall, but we’re sorry to hear that the ankle area has been causing some discomfort. Because the T8 LE 2.0 is designed for high-performance durability and support, the materials can be quite stiff right out of the box. Adding an insole to adjust your foot height is a great idea, as it can often realign where the collar of the boot sits against your ankle bone. (everyone’s foot is a bit different) In addition to the insoles, you might find relief by adjusting your lacing technique to reduce pressure on the ankle area during the break-in period. Here are two options to try: Window Lacing (Pressure Relief): If the stiffness is hitting a specific spot on your ankle, you can "skip" a set of eyelets. Instead of crossing the laces over at the point of discomfort, run them vertically to the next eyelet to create a "window." This relieves direct pressure on the sensitive area while keeping the rest of the boot secure. Two-Zone Lacing: You can tie a surgeon's knot (looping the laces around each other twice) just above the instep. This allows you to keep the lower part of the boot tight for stability while leaving the upper ankle laces slightly looser to allow for more flex as the leather and nylon soften. Typically, these materials will "soften up" and mold to your specific gait after 20–30 miles of use. We hope these adjustments make a difference in your comfort!

I’m leaving three stars on the boots itself!!! The website is great, informative!!! I called customer service for a question on my order. Fast and friendly. Customer service is great. The boots arrived they are nice I’ll admit, light weight and the shoe lace boots are a fantastic idea. The lugs on the boots are very grippy. The leather is has a perfect shine to it as well. The boots do wrap around your ankle and hug it for support. I order a 10.5 wide. I wore them around the house to break in for three days. Then a few times to work finally. The complaint I have is I don’t think they are wide enough. Theirs bit of a hot spot on the side of the boot causing rubbing on the side of my foot. So with that being said I’m not sure if I’ll use these for long wear. I’ll be going back to my Danner Acadias.
Seller's reply
Thank you for taking the time to share such a detailed and balanced review. I am so pleased to hear that you enjoyed our website and had a "fast and friendly" experience with our customer service team—we truly strive to make the ordering process as smooth as possible. It is great to know that the craftsmanship, from the grippy lugs to the leather finish and ankle support, met your expectations. However, I am very sorry to hear that the width of the 10.5 Wide isn't providing the comfort you need for long-term wear. Since you mentioned a "hot spot" on the side of your foot, here is a bit of information that might be helpful: The "Last" Difference: Every boot manufacturer uses a different "last" (the foot-shaped mold the boot is built around). Our wide widths are designed to provide extra volume, but because we prioritize a secure, "anatomical" fit to prevent internal foot slide, they may feel more streamlined than a Danner Acadia, which is known for a much broader, traditional stitch-down construction. Lacing Adjustment: Sometimes, a "hot spot" on the side of the foot can be relieved by using a window lacing (or box lacing) technique. This involves skipping a cross-over at the specific area where you feel the pressure, which allows the leather to flex outward more easily at that exact point. Break-in Period: While you’ve done a great job wearing them around the house, sometimes a thicker or thinner sock can drastically change how that lateral pressure feels during the final stages of the leather softening up. We appreciate you giving us a try, and we value your honest feedback regarding the width. It helps us as we continue to refine our sizing for our customers.

I paid $45 for 2 day shipping for them to open back up after after their inventory count then ship it 3 days after that so for me a week and half it took. Then found the boots weren’t a good fit and paid another $50 to mail them back for a refund.., yup.. just threw away $95 Thanks garmont, you’ve taught me not to buy from your website… I would probably buy from garmont if the store near me are contracted to sell them that way u can actually try them on first but other than that?

Very clunky returns process compared to other companies. Disappointed that wide fittings not available across the full range.
Seller's reply

Ordering was easy, but unfortunately my order was held up for over a week. No one contacted me. I finally put in a call and talked to a very nice person, I think his name was Nathan. He got the ball rolling on the order. But still took almost 3 weeks to deliver, when I paid for a 5 day delivery
Seller's reply
Hello, Thank you so much for your patience while we looked into your recent Garmont order. We truly appreciate you bearing with us. We've thoroughly investigated the delay and discovered that your order wasn't processed as expected due to an address error. We are so incredibly sorry for not catching this sooner during our routine checks for order discrepancies. We can only imagine how frustrating this must have been for you, and we sincerely regret any inconvenience or worry it caused. The moment we spoke with you on July 16, 2025, we immediately corrected the address and notified our warehouse team to prioritize shipping your order right away. We're happy to confirm that your order shipped out that very same day, and we show it was successfully delivered on July 23, 2025. We deeply value all our customers, especially those who serve in the military, and we understand the critical importance of getting your boots to you promptly. Please accept our sincerest apologies for this oversight and the resulting delay.

The delivery process was fantastic. They arrived in two days after ordering, and they're comfortable. I purchased the NFS and feel I can run in them well. However, the stitching in the heel has come apart, on both boots, after one 12-mile ruck and minimal train-up. After 3 months of wear, they have become unservicrable, according to AR 670-1. For $200 boots, which are praised by SOF personnel in other reviews, I've had a less than stellar experience. I've emailed the company with no response. Others in my unit have the same boot. Some don't have this issue, and some do. It seems like consistency is poor for this boot and I'm not likely to purchase from this company again.
Seller's reply
Thanks for contacting us. I'm sorry to hear about the issue with your Garmont boots and that we missed your initial message. What you've described sounds like a manufacturing defect. We're happy to get a replacement pair out to you. To do so, we've sent a separate email to your account detailing the information we need to process your replacement. We have encountered this issue before, though it's not widespread. We've isolated the cause, and this defect should be corrected in future production. We apologize again for the missed correspondence and are committed to resolving this for you quickly.

Everything was pretty basic. Garmont is popular enough where things go out of stock pretty often. However, it seems like they restock product fast. What really surprised me was the 'no free returns' especially with online footwear purchases.
Seller's reply
Hello, Okay, thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We genuinely appreciate hearing about your experience with Garmont. It's great to hear that you've noticed the popularity of our footwear – you're right, our products do tend to move quickly, and we work hard to restock them as efficiently as possible to meet demand. Regarding your surprise about the 'no free returns' policy, especially for online footwear purchases, we completely understand where you're coming from. This is a point we've considered carefully. As a specialized footwear company dedicated to producing high-performance boots and shoes, our primary focus is on offering the best possible product at a competitive price point. We also strive to keep our initial outgoing shipping costs as reasonable as possible for our customers. Unlike some of the very large online retailers who operate on a much different scale and can absorb return shipping costs across a vast range of products, we've found that offering free return shipping would significantly impact on our overall pricing structure. To maintain our competitive pricing and continue investing in the quality and innovation that Garmont is known for, we've chosen not to build the cost of return shipping into our product prices or outgoing shipping fees. This approach allows us to be more transparent about our costs and ensures that customers who are confident in their selections aren't subsidizing the returns of others. We do our best to provide detailed sizing information and product descriptions to help you make the right choice the first time. We understand that this might differ from what you've experienced with larger e-commerce platforms, and we appreciate your understanding of our position as a more specialized brand. We are constantly evaluating our policies and looking for ways to improve the customer experience while staying true to our commitment to quality and fair pricing. Thank you again for your valuable feedback. We hope you continue to enjoy the quality and performance of Garmont footwear.

I ordered some tactical 9.81 shoes and I believe I received women’s size when I had ordered men’s size.
Seller's reply
Hello, Thanks so much for reaching out to us! We're happy to help with any questions about your Garmont boots. Looking at your order, we see you chose the Garmont 9.81 Alert. This is a great boot known for its performance, largely due to its specific fit characteristics. Garmont designs the 9.81 Alert with an athletic, close-to-the-foot (snug) fit. This is intentional to maximize control and responsiveness. It's also worth mentioning that the 9.81 Alert model is available in standard (often considered unisex/men's) sizing only. We don't currently offer it in a women's specific size. For a women's specific Garmont fit, we carry the Athena boot, which is built on a different last (foot form) designed to better accommodate typical female foot dimensions. We know that boot fitting can be tricky, as everyone's feet are a bit different! What feels snug and supportive to one person might feel too tight for another. If the current size isn't comfortable, exchanging them for a larger size of the 9.81 Alert could certainly be a good option to explore. We apologize for any hassle this sizing situation might create. Our goal is to help you find the best possible fit.

It didn’t get here at the time it was supposed to. If your company or the delivery company you paired with would have looked at the times my post office was open there would have been no issues. It took 3 days longer than it should have. Besides that the boots are great and will hopefully last me a while.
Seller's reply
Hello, Thank you for contacting us. We're truly sorry to hear that your boots did not arrived on schedule. We understand how frustrating delivery delays can be. It appears the United States Postal Service has been experiencing some delivery challenges due to the recent severe weather affecting both the Northeast and Southern regions. While we always aim to provide a seamless and timely delivery experience, unfortunately, factors like inclement weather can sometimes impact our ability to meet those goals. Please accept our sincere apologies for the delay. We appreciate your patience and understanding.

My experience with ordering Garmont technical was great, even with a personalized phone call. Unfortunately, my son never received his boots despite saying delivered. I’m not sure where the fault lies, but now I am out $160 and my sons feet are still killing him in basic training.

Like many online companies, Garmont Tactical has a strict return policy regarding the condition of returned footwear. So I was extremely disappointed that 1) the boots slipped in the heel despite being constructed on a women's last and 2) there was a stain on the toe of the right boot. Unlike many companies, Garmont charges for shipping ($15 in my case) and return shipping is on the customer. Garmont requires the customer ask for an RMA No. which turns out to be the same as the order number 🤦🏼‍♀️. On a positive note, Garmont credited my account very quickly after receiving the return.

Great boots but you need to change your shipping provider USPS lost my package and it took 3 weeks for them to find it. Use Fedex or UPS. Customers deserve the better shipper to prevent lost mail.

Purchased as wides, they are not wides, and the 11.5 is too small. Customer service has yet to get back to me so it looks like this will be my last pair of garmonts.

I ordered two pairs of shoes they were said to be wide. They were not wide which was disappointing. When I was going to return them I realized I had to pay for shipping back to the company which was $30! The quality of the shoes was great. I wish they would have actually been wide like advertised.
Seller's reply
Hello, Thanks for getting in touch with us! We're sorry to hear the Heli and T4 Groove boots you ordered didn't quite fit the way you'd hoped. Both styles do have a wider fit designed for a comfortable experience with a broader forefoot. They typically work well for customers who need a wider size within the "E" width range. We understand it can be tricky to find the perfect fit online, especially for boots. For a more traditional wide option, we recommend checking out our T8 tactical boots, which offer an "EE" width size to accommodate wider feet. We appreciate your patience as you navigate the return process. While we can't currently offer free return shipping due to our size as a company, we hope the information about our T8 boots helps you find the perfect fit in the future! Thank you.
