These shoes are great and I buy them regularly. The service however was very poor this time. It took well over a week to arrive and there was no info on timescales at point of purchase, nor any warning of very considerable customs duties payable (£34 plus £10 admin fee). Had I known, I would not have proceeded. Of course Brexit is to blame for the duties, but customers ought to be informed of the payments due before they incur them.

Be wary of import taxes if in UK! The shoes arrived a week after placing order, they are running small despite ordering my usual EU size. The return process looked a bit unclear to me so I persevered with the shoes , loosened laces etc and eventually felt like I could keep them. . Then two weeks later I received a email from FedEx stating I owed £69 import duties. . I checked with La Sportva if this was correct and they referred me back to their general T&C’s which I couldn’t find on the website. ( I placed my order using my phone) There is a generic banner at the top which refers to extra EU countries & import charges, but again this is not legible when using a mobile device. I’ve sent my concerns to La Sportiva to say that I don’t think this is explicit enough, there should be clearer warning’s when purchasing. But they haven’t replied so far ( despite me sending a screenshot) . So a) the shoes run small b) the shoes are expensive c) there are extortionate import duties on top. B) I’ll never buy from them again.

The ridiculous export and duties are not explained properly when you go to pay. The ‘free’ shipping is totally misleading! If I’d know the extra cost I would NOT of purchased the item.

Hello, I recently purchased the Trango Tech Leather boots. Even with a toe room of 1.3 cm, the size was not sufficient. I wanted to exchange the product for a larger size and attempted to use the return form on your website. Unfortunately, the form did not work properly. When I contacted your customer service for help, I was simply referred back to the same non-functional form. Eventually, I sent the goods back, but the refund process is taking a very long time. I am disappointed by the lack of effective support and the complications with returning the item. I hope the refund will be processed soon. Kind regards, Cermak

I was not able to cancel my order, even after a couple of hours. Not good service.

Firstly, great shoes, ease of purchase on website and speed of delivery to uk was excellent. However the whole experience was overshadowed by the courier (fed ex) charging £45 for import duty. I know customs duties happen but there was no mention of this at the point of purchase and in effect it added approximately 30% to the price of the shoes making them expensive. Had I known this at the point of purchase I probably wouldn’t have gone for it and this experience will definitely make me think twice about buying direct from La Sportiva again.

I did not understand that there was no distribution agent in Australia, and that my shoes would cost so much to send from Italy. When they were not the correct size, then i spent quite a lot of money to post back.

The user experience is not so good, I had to select the product multiple times, because they disappeared from the cart section. That took me 4 times to redo my choices. Last thing, modals and pop-ups are quite annoying because event if I select the country where I’m purchasing from it keeps me asking the same question…

I bought two pairs of shoes. First you charged me 2000 euros and then after a week you cancelled the order without any explanation. Why is it possible to order at all if you do not have the sizes in stock?

The boots are great…HOWEVER…I do not appreciate the fact that I was hit with a tax bill from FedEx after they arrived. This is not made clear anywhere on the site, including at checkout, so a £120 pair of boots is now looking to cost me £175. I have emailed customer services twice and they’ve just ignored me. This is a very deceitful and short-sighted tactic - I will not be purchasing from La Sportiva again, no matter what its products are like.

Shoes arrived ok - unfortunately I was charged 80euros additional tax on arrival . No planned or disclosed by La Sportiva - and also probably incorrect because I paid tax on the original purchase. Oh dear. Shoes are fine - although colour is also not quite true to the pictures. However I like La Sportiva approach shoes - these are my 3rd pair.

I haven't been able to return the goods for a week due to a program error. I'm still waiting for this opportunity

Company information

La Sportiva was born in 1928 when Narciso Delladio hand-crafted wooden leather boots for many lumber-jacks and farmers of the Fassa and Fiemme valleys (Dolomites, Italy). After the war, the demand for boots increased obliging Narciso to hire new workers: the good name of "Calzoleria Sportiva" crossed the boarders of the valleys. Starting from here the La Sportiva’s history continued to grow. Now the firm produces in Fiemme Valley boots and shoes for all kind of outdoor activities from climbing and mountain, categories in which La Sportiva has the market leadership, to mountain running, trekking and the skimountaineerging market. Recently the company entered in the skimountaineering segment and in the apparel market with a complete selection of technical clothes for running, skimountaineering and climbing. La Sportiva who produces mainly in his headquarter at Ziano di Fiemme, is distributed in more then 70 countries worldwide.
