First hike out of the box was a 42 km jaunt for the Rotorua Walking Festival in New Zealand. My boots took great care of my feet and ankles. They are comfortable, beautiful, and durable. I chose these boots over several others I tried because the sole traction and ankle support were superior, which is important for me as a person with floppy ankles prone to sprains. I have hypermobile joints and overpronation, so with the addition of my trusty carbon fiber insoles, these were supportive, comfortable, and super solid right away. I'm in love. Can't think of a better boot. Only con is if you've got a habit of raising your toes like I do, you may see some bruising in your nails after prolonged use. I was in them for about nine or ten hours, and my big toenails are a little darker than usual and a bit swollen. They aren't black, though, and I doubt they will fall off. I probably could have used a trim before the hike!
