I ordered the B67 pre-softened saddle, which came with its own sachet of Proofide, and a warrantee brochure written in the smallest font I have ever seen. I scanned the instructions about applying Proofide, but missed the part saying “Proofide must not be applied to a pre-softened saddle” until I had already applied it. Why was the Proofide included if it is not to be used? Also, the saddle is quite hard and inflexible, which makes me wonder if it *was* actually pre-softened. In any case, I am happy with the saddle, and even in its un-broken-in state, it is still marginally more comfortable than the plastic saddle that came with my bike. I’m happy with my Brooks saddle, and look forward to breaking it in and having it custom-fit to my anatomy. I have wanted to have a Brooks saddle for many years, and it seems like the quality of manufacture is extremely high.

I purchased a B17 that I could not break in l have now purchased a B67 SOFTENED that I really like unfortunately the b17 leather was extremely hard and definitely harder than all saddles my fellow riders have although you said all your leather is the same, but no this B17 black short is terrible no amount of leather conditioner soften it and I still had to discard it after 2000ks, so a very expensive exercise for me
