I have been waiting for these Diadora Mavericks to re-release since their earlier retro release in the early 2000's. Quite a popular shoe in the Philly/ New York area back then. I owned multiple pairs of the "Made in Italy" version and still have one pair brand new. Very glad that Diadora has brought these back. There are some differences compared to the earlier retro that I can point out. The midsole and sole were changed material / design wise, which occured at the end of sales of the last retro version. And now that has carried through to this version. The original used to have a foam midsole that was one piece and would wrap all the way around the toe. Now that has been changed and the full toecap is all part of the sole. Probably better that way. Seems to be made of a material similar to Phylon (similar to Air Jordan 7). Also there used to be mesh material around the ankle area of the shoe originally which is now a leather type material. And overall the shape of the toe-box was slimmer and the top of the heel was sleeker in shape. But overall I am glad they are at least back! Not made in Italy anymore but still nice quality. I like the slightly off-white midsole color as well, looks great. I will probably purchase more. In the picture attached, the pair in the foreground are the earlier retro model, made in Italy. The rest are recent retro release!

I had these sneakers back in 1987 and they look and feel as they did over 30 years ago! I had been wishing for these sneakers to be made for a long time. I recently check the site and bingo there they were! You guys answered my wishes! Thanks
